History

South East Colo Rectal was established by Associate Professor Bruce Waxman in 2005 to provide a comprehensive surgical service to patients with problems of the intestines, rectum and anus to the south east suburbs of Melbourne.

Having completed his colorectal surgical training in 1988, Professor Waxman brings many years of experience to this specialised field. Outside of private practice he is also the Head of General Surgery at Southern Health, Unit Head of the Colorectal Surgery Unit at Dandenong Hospital, and a member of the Colorectal Unit at Monash Clayton. He is recognized nationally and internationally as an expert in the field of colorectal surgery. His aim is to develop a group practice of colorectal surgeons with the individual surgeons covering the broad range of specialties in this field.

Here at South East Colo Rectal we endeavour to assist all our patients in helping to fully understand their conditions and procedures related to colorectal surgery.

As colorectal specialists we’re able to offer expert advice on a number of areas. These include: Bowel and Rectal Surgery / Abdominal Complaints / Pilonidal Sinus / Abdominal Adhesions / Ano-rectal Manometry / Constipation / Incontinence and Haemorrhoids. Your doctor will be able to answer any of your questions in detail during consultation. Patients please note there is an account associated with all visits. Accounts are payable on the day of consultation, however all accounts are claimable from Medicare. Pensioners are billed at a reduced rate to provide minimal out-of-pocket expenses. Extra charges may be incurred depending on examinations performed. Should you have any further queries, please just speak with one of our helpful staff.

Informed financial consent will be obtained for all procedures performed by Professor Waxman.
